Game Hacking Village at DEF CON 34
- Date:
- August 6–9, 2026
- Location:
- Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV
The Game Hacking Village is where DEF CON's gaming security community gathers each year — talks, CTFs, and hands-on sessions covering everything from memory hacking to game modding to multiplayer cheat detection. It's a space built by and for people who love pulling games apart to understand how they really work.
This year, Bishop Fox brings two sessions to the Village. Dan Petro talks about a community he's deeply embedded in: competitive Super Smash Bros. Melee. As maintainer of the SLP Enforcer tool, Dan works directly with the Melee scene on cheating investigations — and he's bringing real stories, real techniques, and a look at how detection tooling actually catches people in the act. Luis De la Rosa takes on iOS: a practical, from-scratch look at analyzing and modifying games on a platform many still assume is locked down tight.

"Catching Cheaters in Super Smash Bros Melee"
Speakers: Dan Petro, Principal Security Engineer, Bishop Fox
Abstract: Super Smash Bros. Melee for the Nintendo GameCube is one of the oldest active fighting game communities, with a storied 25-year history. Would you believe that people try to cheat at it?
Dan is the maintainer of the SLP Enforcer tool and helps with cheating investigations for the Melee community. In this talk, he'll share stories of people trying to cheat and getting caught — and along the way, break down the different ways someone could try to cheat at Melee and how detection tools actually work.
Session will be located at Exhibit Hall West 3 -801.
"iOS Game Hacking: From Zero to God Mode"
Speakers: Luis De la Rosa, Sr. Security Consultant, Bishop Fox
Abstract: iOS has a reputation as a locked-down, unhackable ecosystem. This talk sets out to dispel that myth. Luis gives a practical, from-scratch introduction to game hacking on iOS, showing live how games built for the platform can be analyzed and modified in real time.
Through live demos, Luis walks through the reverse engineering and hooking techniques behind features like God Mode, Infinite Coins, and Speed Hacks, giving attendees a hands-on look at how iOS game security actually holds up under pressure.
