Debug to Root: Una Introducción Amigable al Hardware Hacking

¿Qué tan seguros son los dispositivos embebidos e IoT en tu entorno? Este taller práctico cubre fundamentos de hardware hacking, desde identificar componentes clave e interactuar con interfaces de depuración hasta extraer firmware y encontrar vulnerabilidades en dispositivos reales.

Hoy en día, los systemas embebidos y dispositivos IoT juegan un papel importante en entornos corporativos, industriales e incluso en nuestros hogares. Algunos de ellos se encargan de tareas críticas, pero ¿qué tan seguros son?

En este taller, los asistentes aprenderán los fundamentos de hardware hacking, incluyendo cómo identificar componentes principales de un dispositivo, tales como el chip principla, la memoria flash, las interfaces de depuración y otros elementos clave del hardware. Además, los asistentes se familiarizarán con el uso de herramientas de hardware y software para analizar señales e interactuar con interfaces y circuitos integrados (ICs) con el fin de realizar extracción de firmware, obtener acceso como root a un dispositivo o comprender cómo funciona este. Por último, los asistentes aprenderán técnicas para analizar el firmware de los dispositivos con el fin de identificar vulnerabilidades.

His current work focuses on offensive security, hardware and embedded device security, and helping organizations understand how real attackers abuse systems in the physical and digital world. Abdel is passionate about making complex security topics approachable and practical, and he regularly shares hands-on techniques for breaking—and fixing—real-world systems.
