Abstract: Hacking has become one of pop culture's favorite obsessions, from the slow-motion keystrokes of Mr. Robot to the open-world chaos of Watch Dogs. But how much of that portrayal holds up against the way hacking actually works?

This panel brings together security practitioners and comic creators to dig into the gap between cinematic hacking and the real thing, drawing on how social engineering, pretexting, and AI-driven exploits are reshaping both the threat landscape and the stories told about it — and where pop culture gets the human side of hacking right, and where it doesn't.
